These soft, gooey cinnamon rolls feature a rich butter-brown sugar filling and cream cheese frosting. Make them ahead for a decadent breakfast treat.

Cinnamon Rolls



Prep Time: 2.5 hours Cook Time: 25 minutes Servings: 12 rolls

Dough:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 packet of active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp salt

Filling:

  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon

Frosting:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Mix warm milk, yeast, and 1 tbsp sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add milk mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Roll dough into a 16x20-inch rectangle. Spread butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon mixture.
  5. Roll tightly lengthwise. Cut into 12 pieces.
  6. Place rolls in a greased 9x13 pan. Rise for 45 minutes.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  8. Beat frosting ingredients until smooth. Spread over warm rolls.

Tips:

  • Use dental floss to cleanly cut rolls
  • For overnight prep, refrigerate after step 5
  • Serve warm for the best texture

Store covered at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerated for 5 days.
